Following a challenging start to the year brought on by the Humber floods in December the Cobus Group has had its best financial year ever with growth in virtually all areas of the business that’s created new and exciting roles for new team members in Sales, Administration, Finance and Engineering. In December last year Michael O’Grady left the Cobus business after nearly 20 years to progress other business ventures that required the Senior Management Team to step-up as I moved from Group Director to Managing Director to continue my development of the business and concentrate more on strategic growth. The Cobus ethos has always been to provide the correct solution at a competitive price and apply all available resource and expertise available no matter how large or small the client, this year has seen a further increase in the size and prestige of customer with many big names such as Smith & Nephew, Arco and Victoria Plumb that demonstrates that Cobus has become synonymous with quality, service and value as the largest independent provider in the region. This growth and positive reputation is testament to the hard work and dedication of the valued team that enabled Cobus to be recognised at national level at the ‘comms national awards’ at London’s Park Lane Hilton and then scoop the winners award for excellence in customer service at the regional awards earlier this year.

This year has seen Cobus involved in even more community based projects and charities with the launch of the training room at the RSPCA Hull and East Riding as part of our Cobus Foundation Charity, now in its fifth year. We have also been involved with the support and sponsorship of the Hull Sports Disability Awards, Hull FC, Hull FC U19 Academy main sponsors and Hull Dockers main sponsors to name but a few. Cobus have also continued their support of the Hull Daily Mail Humber Renewables & Green Energy Awards for the 4th year and have pledged support to the Hull City Council Training Awards that recognises the hard work and dedication of apprentices something that I’m very passionate about after joining Cobus almost 24-years ago as a YTS (the equivalent of an apprentice back then!). As part of the ever increasing Cobus brand image we have freshened up our corporate branding with new livery on our fleet as well as the launch of our new website that’s still work in progress but will continue to be our shop window demonstrating our full range of products and services and well as the latest news about Cobus and any offers or promotions that we are running.

Plans for 2015? Well, I can promise another exciting year with the forging of new relationships and partnerships and the expansion of Cobus services into other areas while maintaining and maximising the Hull presence. Our aim will also be to increase our cross selling of products and services into our own base to maximise on our current offerings that now extend way beyond our more recognised telephony services such as CCTV and Access Control; that are two of our fastest growing sectors alongside our telephone Line & Call services that’s now boasting over 1,000,000 billing minutes per month in the Hull area alone that identifies Cobus the largest independent provider in the region. All in all a very positive year with an even more positive future ahead…
