Our Managing Director Michael Smith takes a quick look back over the last 12 months at Cobus, our achievements, new partnerships, and looking forward to the opportunities that Hull, City of Culture for 2017, will bring while taking the opportunity to reflect on those early start-up years…

Michael commented “2016 has seen Cobus celebrate our Silver anniversary as we mark 25-years of successfully delivering telecommunications excellence to business throughout Hull and across the UK. I can clearly remember that first day back in June 1991 when I arrived on my bike for my first day’s work down Newbridge Road in the east of the city. Back then It was just a small start-up called Newbridge Electronics that eventually became known as Cobus [Communications] and a market leader in the telecommunications arena.

Things at Cobus are very different in almost all aspects as the organisation has developed a brand and image that’s become synonymous with expertise, quality and reliability while not losing focus on the attention to detail that’s never been forgotten since those early years some 25-years ago.”

The last two financial periods have seen Cobus post record growth in turnover while smashing previous profits that’s allowed continued investment into the business to further improve and strengthen our service delivery. This year we have welcomed 5 new members of staff, across the sales and engineering departments to facilitate continued company growth. Significant Investment into the latest stock control and audit systems to maintain maximum efficiency and maintain our award winning service is just one of the many internal projects completed this year.

2016 has seen new strategic partnerships with some exciting business plans to follow in 2017 and our community support and charity focus under the Cobus Foundation will continue in 2017 and will be bigger than ever with the continuation of support as Hull FC Community Champions, Hull Disability Sports Awards, local amateur support and the announcement of our continued support of PAUL for Brain Recovery that will see an expedition to China where Mike & Paul will take on the Great Wall to raise funds and awareness for the charity.

Michael added “With the City of Culture just around the corner everyone at Cobus is looking forward to the opportunities and increased business potential this will bring, whilst playing our part in the celebrations. We operate as a great team here at Cobus with everyone playing an instrumental part in the delivery process and overall customer experience, its been a fantastic celebratory year in 2016 but thanks to the continuous dedication and hard work there will be more to celebrate in 2017…”
