Our longstanding customer, JZ Flowers have been in contact with us about an appeal they have set up to help one of their staff members who has recently found out that her 3 year old son, William, has a brain tumour.
They have put together a team who will be cycling between their two UK sites in the hope that they can raise money for William who has undergone an emergency procedure to relieve the pressure on his brain and over the space of three weeks, and who has also had to have two gruelling 10+ hour operations to remove as much of the tumour as possible.
Unfortunately the family were then told the crushing news that the tumour is cancerous and requires a form of radiotherapy treatment called Proton Beam Therapy. This particular form of radiotherapy is relatively new and is not currently available in the UK as such, Will and the family have had to travel to America for the treatment. William has just started a 6 week course of Proton Beam Therapy and is responding well however, there’s a very long road ahead.
The JZ cycling team hope to help the family with cost of living while they are in America and hopefully, it will also allow them to make some wonderful memories to cherish, despite the daily visits to the treatment centre and any surplus funds will be donated to the organisations who have supported the family through this trying time.
The ride will take place between JZ Flowers Moulton Lincolnshire and their JZ Flowers Newport, East Yorkshire sites on Saturday 17th October which is a gruelling distance of 100 miles!
Cobus were keen to help and have donated towards the fundraising effort for ‘Ride for Will’ whose target of £3,000 has almost been reached and which is now only £100 short.
